People know that tanning can be beneficial in alleviating depression, improving physical beauty and sexual attractiveness, and for overall betterment of skin health. But when they read or hear about dangerous effects of tanning, they are worried. It becomes important for them to know what to do and what not do to while sun tanning. When a person gets a tan, the color of his skin changes when sun rays damage the dead cells found in his skin. Today, a number of products are available in market, and these produce the same results as a suntan produces, and that too, without exposing body to the sun. This protects men from potential damages.

Do’s

It is recommended to take a shower bath and exfoliate before a tanning session. Also physical activity should be limited for 5-6 hours following a tanning session. The reason for this is perspiration may adversely affect the results of a tan. A person should shave or wax before he goes for a tanning appointment. It is a good idea to wear loose fitting clothes and shoes following a session. It is observed that tight fitting clothes squeeze the product out of cells. It is better to avoid water for at least 6 hours, as this allows the product to develop. A person should start moisturizing after his tanning session in order to keep the tan. But he should avoid greasy moisturizers.

Do know your skin type and then tan. Consult a dermatologist to know the type of your skin and then tan accordingly. Always wear sunglasses while tanning. This will prevent ultraviolet (UV) radiations from causing harm to the retina of your eyes. Tanning lotions can be used while tanning. It is better to keep track of the time you are exposed to UV rays. Less exposure to UV rays has no side effects and it usually fulfills the requirement of radiations needed by a human body. Keep sufficiently large intervals between two tans. It is advisable to give a minimum gap of two days between two sessions. Tan only when you physically feel comfortable. And the most important, avoid tanning pills. The best time to tan is before 10 in the morning.
