Oily skin is found among people and especially teenagers due to the hormonal imbalances that upset oil balance in the sebaceous glands below the skin. This results in the skin becoming coarse and the skin gets a shiny coat. Blemishes and enlarged pores make the skin look worse and dirt and various pollutants can cause further problems if the skin remains oily for a long time.

What causes oily skin problems?

Many factors are known to cause excess oil secretion in the skin. Teenagers are more likely to deal with oily skin problems, as the sebum glands that secrete sebum are overactive at their age. Skin gradually tends to become dry with age. Oily skin can also be due to factors like heredity, diet, pregnancy and related problems, cosmetics and beauty products or hot and humid weather.

How can we deal with oily skin problems?

Oily skin requires a great deal of care. Keeping it squeaky clean with warm water and soap is one way of cleaning up oily skin. The important thing that must be kept in mind is that the pores on the skin must not get clogged. This is where dirt and dust tend to settle and lead on to acne and blemishes. Use of beauty products is advised as long as they do not dehydrate the skin or leave them too dry or stretched. Cleansers, night masks, creams, cosmetic and beauty products that particularly look after oily skin are recommended.

What do we eat while dealing with oily skin problems?

Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and a diet that is rich in protein foods is advised for taking care of oily skin problems. One must drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Oily foods need to be avoided and vegetables and food items that are processed using oils and fats need to be restricted. Foodstuff that have high amount of Vitamin B2 is highly recommended to take care of oily skin problems.

The natural way to deal with oily skin problems

Lime and cucumber juice applied on the face before a bath can reduce oiliness. Beauty experts also recommend the use of clay or mud masks for dealing with oily skin. Honey as a facial is also used for the same. Rinsing the face well once these substances have been applied to the face is essential so that the face does not become too dry or patchy.
