Nail File

After nails have been cut using the nail clippers, they are softly ground and shaped using the Nail File. Their use is prevalent in manicures and pedicures. They can be manufactured using different materials as mentioned below.

Conventional materials

The tool is prepared from metal coated with corundum or emery boards. The former are more abrasive than the latter. So, the process is completed quicker with the former. If used by many women, they may transmit diseases from one to other. So, the use of emery boards is advocated. They can be thrown after single use as they cost less. But, both these types cause nails to splinter. The remedy is the use of Glass nail files.

They are manufactured from crystals. So, they are innocuous for humans and environment. They have a smooth, constant and non-eroding surface. They avoid nail chipping and their use results in smoother and healthier nails. They can be disinfected using liquid, heat and ultra-violet light resulting in a high level of hygiene. The nail file does not rust or undergo any alteration in its properties due to this sterilization.

Modern Nail Files

Diamond embedded nail file is most efficient in transforming rough nails to smooth ones. Also, it can be used to smoothen calluses. It can be cleaned thoroughly with soap and water. The diamond finish is very long lasting. A ceramic nail file has a fine and a coarse side. It also has an integrated nail cleaner. It is ideal to use on delicate nails. The surface of the file has micro-pores to smoothen the nails. This nail file is hardened at 2000 deg Celsius and hence warranty’s long life. Nails do not get heated while using this nail file. It can be cleaned with water. Crystal Stone Nail Files do not rip the nails. They are manufactured from thousands of micro jewel crystals. It is claimed that they seal the natural moisture and essential oils in the nails, thereby strengthening them. They can be used in dry or wet conditions. It is possible to use them in a to and fro movement, unlike the metal and emery files. The edge of the file under the nail can be used to remove burrs.
