Selecting the best makeup mirrors for the job at hand is the key to a balanced and beautiful appearance. Not every mirror is suitable for every cosmetic application and women should use mirrors they feel comfortable and confident about. With mirror, they will feel comfortable and confident about their appearance and those feelings will be reflected in a beautiful smile and gracious personality for everyone to see.

Types of mirror for makeup

1. Integrated Mirrors- These makeup mirrors are a part of the cosmetic product. Whether it is blush, eye shadow or powder this mirror is needed. Generally small and integrated into the makeup case, these mirrors are appropriate for quick touch-ups of the makeup remains flawless. The detriment to this type of mirror is that they easily become smudged and clouded with the cosmetic, limiting their effectiveness.

2. Accessory Mirrors- These small and compact mirrors are sold separately from cosmetic products. They are a part of every woman’s makeup case nonetheless. They are convenient for travel and reviewing touch-ups.

3. Hand-Held Mirrors- Hand-held makeup mirror is important for verifying the application of cosmetic from different angles and is easy to use in conjunction with a stationary mirror in a bathroom or at a vanity bag.

4. Stationary Mirrors- Stationary mirrors often have adjustable stands and may also have movable for easy and convenient use. A stationary mirror allows the woman to use both her hands rather than be struggling with a mirror at the same time she is applying cosmetics. It eliminates the problems as the angles change and her view is distorted.

5. Magnifying Mirrors- Magnifying mirrors are for fine detail work like lip liner, eyeliner or multiple shades that require delicate blending to achieve the best results. Magnifying makeup mirrors are also important for covering fine lines and blemishes and are particularly helpful for women with poor eyesight that may have to remove their glasses before applying makeup.

6. Lighted Makeup Mirrors- Many types of mirrors have built in lights. This provides a smooth, consistent light source that enhances makeup application by eliminating shadows that results in uneven cosmetics.

Caring for makeup mirror

No mirror can be effectively used if it is not regularly cleaned. Powders, oils and sprays from cosmetics can cloud and smudge mirrors by limiting their effectiveness. It can even lead to distortions and unsuspecting women may innocently apply too much makeup or inappropriate colours in order to counter the mirror’s effects. When cleaning a makeup mirror, use streak-free glass cleaner and wipe gently to prevent scratches, nicks or permanent damage that would cause distortions.
