Fragrance Oils




The oils that give a pleasant smell to us are the fragrance oils. They are generally volatile, therefore they evaporate, and thus they spread in the air i.e. they diffuse in the air. When they diffuse in the air, our nose senses them. Today they are in use as the perfumes essential oils and the other aroma products.

The have very good effect on the mind and body of the people. Therefore, they are in very wide use in the world. Though they are available through the natural sources, oils from these natural sources are costlier therefore; the artificial methods are popular for manufacturing them.

Composition

We also know the fragrance oils as the essential oils. Man first discovered them in the plants. The plants and animals create them in their body for variety of purposes. They are commonly volatile and most of them are ethereal compounds. Therefore, they also have the name ethereal oils. However all them are not ethers. They belong to different chemical groups. However, they ones which are in use are all organic compounds.

The processes of extraction

For their extraction, various efficient methods as the distillation, expression, and solvent extraction have evolved in the recent days. The conditions for all these methods are different and therefore the raw material that undergoes the extraction faces these different conditions. The oils are very delicate and therefore they cannot bear extreme conditions as the temperature and heat. Moreover, they are also very reactive and therefore the solvents that these methods use may destroy them.

Therefore, a proper method for their extraction is necessary. Moreover, the cost of the methods is also an important thing that needs consideration.

The uses of the fragrance oils

The smell of these oils is very good for our body. It helps in two ways first one is that they have a therapeutic values especially for the brain. The second one is that they also enhance the mood and the condition of the mind.

We can use them in a mixture with carrier oil and we can apply this oil on the skin or the hair or clothes etc in the form of perfumes or body oils. Moreover, we can also use them in different products for the making rooms or other indoors fragrant.

Remember

These oils in great concentrations can be harmful for the skin. Therefore, their dilution with some carrier oil is very important. Moreover, we should not let them enter the eyes. In addition to this, remember that some people may be allergic to them.
