Fragrance Aroma Lamps
Among the many types of the things that are in use for the making the room fragrant, the aroma lamps are very popular. They may either just simply candles which provide fragrance on burning or they be lamps in which the fragrant oils burn along with their solvent. However, the commercially available Lampe Berger is available as the catalytic diffuser lamp. They are very multiuse things for decoration of the houses or other indoors. They enhance the indoor atmosphere and they look attractive.
History
The invention of the catalytic lamp took place in the 1800. The purpose making them was for the use in the hospitals. They used to purify the air and fill the indoor with the pleasure of fragrance. The Frenchman having the name Maurice Berger was the one who took the patent for the lamp in 1897 and he found a company that we know by the name Lampe Berger. Today however in addition to this company many more companies are also manufacturing these lamps throughout the world.
The mechanism of the working of the lamps
When these lamps burn as the lanterns, their flame attracts the odor particles from the indoor atmosphere. When these particles encounter the flame, the flame decomposes them and thus it converts them into particles that are odorless and harmless. These particles are generally carbon dioxide and water.
The temperature of the flame is not too high but the fuel acts as a catalyst for the conversion reaction. Therefore, we call the lamp as catalytic lamps.
The recent researches show that they even remove some bacteria and such type of microorganisms from the indoor atmosphere.
Using these lamps
While using these lamps we have to light them for sometime i.e. few minutes. This heats the burner of the lamp. Then you can extinguish the lamp. The heat from the burner is enough for the purification of the air in the room through the above process.
In these lamps, either you can use a fuel, which will just act as the catalyst for the purification of the air or, you can also use the scented fuels as the aromatic oils. If you use the aromatic oils then the lamps also produces the fragrance of that oil.
The temperature at which this lamp operates is very low, not as high as the combustible point of alcohol or other substances. Therefore, using these lamps is safer and convenient.
