Family Of Fragrances

The fragrances are from the different families and this will depend upon the notes. In the fragrances, the dominant part is the heart note.

Generally, there are four basic family of fragrance that are citrus, Fougere, Oriental and Chypre. In the feminine fragrances, floral category is quite popular. These families are mentioned below:

Fougere:

This is famous fragrance in the men's family main fragrance used is of the Lavender and Oak moss. Fougere is called as Fern in French. Main examples of this fragrance are Polo Sports, Platinum Egoiste, and Cool Water.

Floral:

This fragrance is mostly utilized in feminine fragrances. In this, some of the fragrances use bouquets of the flower, some of the fragrances used with the main flower fragrance in conjunction with different notes and accords. Some of the fragrances give scent of the single flower.

Traditionally this fragrance was famous in males but now a day women are prominently using the floral fragrance. Some examples of floral fragrance are Agua Lavender and Insense for men while Chanel 19, Anais, L'Air du Temps are famous in women.

Oriental:

This fragrance is popular in men and women. These are usually warm, spicy and sweet and made up of the ingredients like Vanilla and Tonka bean. Sandal wood is also common fragrance. Some examples for men are Obsession for Men, Joop Homme in men where as Angel, Opium in women.

Chypre:

This is made from the fragrances like woody, mossy, and floral notes. Usually this contains Oakmass, Sandalwood, Patchouli Bergamot and Vetiver. Certain examples of this fragrance are Givenchy Gentleman, Fendi Uomo for men and Cuir de Russe and Mitsouko in the women.

Marine:

This fragrance is comparatively new and therefore it is hard to describe scents. This will give the fragrance of sea air. Ingredients in this fragrance are of calone which gives the marine scent. Some examples are Kenzo Pour Homme, New West for Him for men and Escape for women.

Citrus:

This is the earliest family and cologne is the fragrance which is still in use. These are fresh and invigorating. Some of the examples are Eau Sauvage and D&G Masculine for men and Cristalle, Green Tea in women.
