Developement Of Lens
The lens is suspended by ligaments attached to the anterior portion of the ciliary’s body. This article will briefly clarify the process of development of embryo.
During the first stage of embryonic development, the lens first takes the form as hollow ball of cell. Each cell contains nucleus that contains chromosomes that encloses DNA. The ball of cell is oriented in the development of eye in such away that one surface point towards outside of eye and opposite surface is pointing towards interior part. The outside part is anterior side of developing lens while inside surface is posterior side of developing lens. The cell ball is surrounded by the capsule of proteinaceus material. Development lenses as well as adult lens both are surrounded by lens capsule.
Following steps are involved in Development of lens:
* First step in lens development is elongation of the posterior cells into the cavity towards the anterior cell layer. The elongating cells form the primary lens fibers at the same time they generate a large extent of variety of proteins called crystalline. These proteins are the primary structure component of each primary lens fiber.
* The primary lens fibers soon make their nuclei and other cellular organelles free and develop into bluish colored inert structure. These cells will now continue to divide along the edges and will begin to form secondary lens fiber.
* Red cells at the top and bottom edges begin to form secondary lens fiber by elongating along the anterior surface of primary lens fiber and between the primary lens fiber and anterior layers of cells.
* Primary lens fibers are completely surrounded by secondary lens fiber. Anterior cells are multiplied by cell multiplication.
* In this way, there is formation of number of primary and secondary lens fiber, as the secondary fiber increase in large quantity because of process repetition and quantity of protein also increases. These proteins will become the primary structural component of each secondary lens fiber.
* Finally, the lens gets developed, but anterior cells goes on multiplying as embryo develops.
