Crazy Contacts

Since they became a practical solution for vision disorders, contact lenses have become just as much a fashion statement as they are a correction device. They began in the 1950s as hard glass lenses, then transformed into hard plastic lenses, both of which were uncomfortable and expensive. Then in the 1970s, came the soft plastic lenses, and the revolution began. Now, contact lens wearers can choose from disposables, torics, color, and even crazy contacts. Color and crazy contacts are the latest greatest fashion craze, allowing users to seemingly change the color and even the shape of their eyes.

Crazy contacts raise the bar in what contact lenses can do for your eyes and your look. They comes in a wild variety of styles, colors, and shapes. They include the Cat eye contact, with its yellow background and vertical black slit pupil. Or if wolves are more your speed, wear the Wolf lens with the lunar yellow around the pupil and its black border. Just don’t howl at the moon!

Crazy contacts also come in wild shapes like Red Spiral, which transforms your eyes into a red and white spiral. To weird out friends and strangers alike, put in your White lenses, which turn your eye completely white. There are also Fire contact lenses and their yellow flames circling your pupil around a red background. Or as a joke after New Years Eve or another long night, sneak in the Bloodshot contact lenses. With their crisscrossing red “blood vessels,” they are sure to get a laugh.

If you want to show your allegiance to your country or your favorite teams, crazy contacts can also come in handy. With the Stars & Stripes contact lenses, your eyes will beam out an American flag. Or with NFL lenses, sport the logo of your home team in the whites of your eyes.

Of course, crazy contacts are real contact lenses. So they require a prescription from you’re your eye doctor (or at least a fitting if you don’t need them for vision). You can put yourself at risk for an eye infections if you do not get them fitted properly, or if you don’t care for them properly. They don’t require special care, though, so the fun far outweighs this necessary responsibility.
