Contact Lenses For Dry Eyes

The people having dry eyes generally have some problems while the use of lenses. This is because the tears or moisture is necessary for the use of the lenses. It should form a layer in between the eyes and the lens. If this layer is absent then the lens starts irritating our eyes. However, as the contact lenses are important for these days some special types of lenses are also available in the market that the people with dry eyes can use.

Even if they are more costly than the ordinary lenses, they make it possible for such people to wear lenses.

The causes of dry eyes

The dry eyes may be genetically or these days they also occur due pollution as our eyes are sensitive towards the chemicals that cause pollution. In some cases, they may be due to deficiency of some nutrients in the food. Many types of infections also cause the reddening of eyes.

The redness of the eyes may be an indication to some other problems in the eyes. Moreover, many times, they are associated with the other problems as the irritation of they eyes, burning of the eyes or feeling as if some, foreign body has entered our eyes.

In some cases, however the use of the contact lenses also may cause the problems of the dry eyes. Therefore, the users should concern their ophthalmologists.

Care for the users of contact lenses

a) The simple remedy for such a problem is the use of the eye rewetting drops. This the users can use as a temporary solution for the problem.

b)The sensitiveness can also be because of the preservatives that the solutions that are used in the washing or storing the lenses.

c) Keep on soaking after some time interval- this would keep the lens moist. This also aids in the comforting the eyes.

d) These people should be careful about the expiry date of the lenses. They should always replace the lenses whenever they needed for doing so.

e) The blinking of the eyes with a greater frequency also helps.

f) The special purpose lenses are also available these days for such people, and therefore they should preferably use these lenses.

g) Also, they can use the prescription eye drops for this problem.
