The Gucci fashion line had relatively humble beginnings and originally started out as a small family business that mainly sold leather goods. Gucci rose to prominence in the fashion industry at the hand of Guccio Gucci, who founded his saddlery shop in 1906.

It was later in 1938 that Gucci opened its first boutique. Eventually, Guccio Gucci’s initials (GG) became one of the most recognized symbols of this line in the 1960s.
