Artificial Lens Implant

There are different types of implants which are available. Mainly two types of lens implants are their first in which the natural eye is retained and secondly the natural lens is replaced

Phakic lens implants:

Phakic lens implants are the implants in which the artificial lens is implanted or inserted in the eyes without the removal of natural crystalline lens which is present in the human eye. These types of lenses are also known as ICLs Mainly this technique is used for the people who are suffering from acute short sightedness or acute long-sightedness. This implant is done in the cases where the recently discovered LASIK treatment cannot be used. So for these people the phakic lenses are preferable. Another advantage of this treatment is unlike LASIK surgery this implantation surgery is reversible. It is feasible to remove or replace the phakic lenses whenever possible. This implant is mainly suitable for the people which are middle aged or young. The main reason for this is that the natural eye lens of the people in this age group is elastic in nature. This enables the patients to observe minute close up details which are visible to them after correction surgery. With the help of ICLs the patients can absolutely reduce their dependency on spectacles and contact lenses.

Bifocal phakic lens implants:

This surgery is very useful and suitable for the users who are interested in getting rid of spectacles but the individual has to accept the very slight reduction in the quality of distant and near vision.

ARTISAN lens implants:

This type of phakic lens implant is utilized for correcting the problems like hyperopia, astigmatism and even very high degrees of myopia. So this types of phakic surgical implants are more accurate.

Posterior Chamber Phakic ICLs:

These lenses are kept in a position which is placed just in front of natural lens that is just behind the iris.

Clear lens replacement surgery:

In this type of surgery the natural lens of the eyes is first removed and then it is replaced with a synthetic lens. The natural lens is removed with the help of ultrasound techniques.

RLR Surgery:

This surgery mainly utilizes the technique which mainly utilizes a fixed focus lens implant than the multi-focus lens implant. So this technique is especially utilized for the patients who are severely myopic and do not fit in the range of LASIK operation. The people are generally of age forty or more. This surgical treatment is used generally when cataract sets in. The patients still have to wear reading glasses after this surgery.
